ALF started in 2000 with the first students of homeopathy joining the informal course in April 2000 and opened the first clinic in Kariobangi North in July 2000. It was registered as an NGO in 2001.

The college offers the following courses:
- Diploma in Naturopathy
- Diploma in Herbal Medicine and Homeopathy
- Distance Learning Course: Homeopathy- Since distance learning depends on the student's own intiative, there is no fixed time limit, however 2 years is the recommended average time.
- Certificate Course: Reflexology- This 32 hour course (in 3½ months) covers Reflexology, Basic Condensed Anatomy & Physiology as it relates to reflexology.
